  • 3 pounds red potatoes quartered
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic & Herb Blend


  • Get a slow cooker and add potatoes, butter, salt and water.
  • Cook on high for 3 hours with the lid on.
  • When done, remove from heat. Add sour cream and Garlic Herb Blend. Mash potatoes using a masher or electric beater until they become smooth.
  • Serve hot.

Use unsalted butter in your potatoes. It helps control the amount of salt. You can therefore season the potatoes as befits in a great mash, butter is the predominant flavor. You should thus .go for the best quality of butter as per your taste and preference.

Keep your mashed potatoes warm; leave them covered in the slow cooker .Adjust the warm settings and it will stay warm for up to 4 hours.

It is not a must that you use cream and butter. For a dairy free option, cook your potatoes and mash them without adding any dairy.
